Middle School Exploratory Options

For the 26-27 school year, all middle school students will have 2 electives in the middle of the school day to enhance their middle school experience during periods 4 and 5. These electives will be opportunities for students to grow in their understanding in a variety of options.  The purpose of this email is to communicate those options to you for Semester 1 and allow students to rank their top 3 choices.  As you can appreciate, every student may not receive their top choice.  Students not listing their top 3 choices will be placed in an elective class that may or may not be in their ‘favorite’ list.  We are excited to be offering a variety of options.

Archeology: This class will cover the basics of how to study a real piece of history, as well as hands-on learning experiences where students will be able to research historical artifacts that are brought into class.

Agriculture:  This introductory course exposes students to the world of Agriculture in order to prepare them for a possible Agriculture track in high school at Yorkville Christian.

Art:  Art is a very important course for students to take throughout their education! There are many skills that children are able to gain and strengthen through the understanding, appreciation, and creative processes of art.

Physical Education:  Students will take part in a variety of Team Sports throughout the semester(PE Shirt and Gym Shoes are required).

Robotics:  Students will take part in this STEM class learning and understanding coding and robotics.

Social Media and Me: Students will learn how to be more human in a digital world through a Christ-centered lens.

Spanish 1A:  Grade 7 students will take part in the first half of High School Spanish 1.

Spanish 1B:  Grade 8 students will take part in the second half of High School Spanish 1.  If successfully passing the assessment, students may test into Spanish 2 as a freshman at YCS. To be eligible, students must have passed Spanish 1A.
